Traumatic events are situations that are either life threatening or have the potential for serious injury. Some people will experience a potentially traumatic event as a one-off while others experience this regularly as part of the work they undertake.

Of the 117,500 emergency services employees and 237,800 volunteers*, and 350,000 registered health services practitioners in Australia, many are routinely exposed to trauma.

It's not always easy to know how to respond to a potentially traumatic event, so we sought the expertise of Phoenix Australia to develop the Recovery after Trauma Guides. These guides seek to provide information for workers at a time when they need it most. Our goal is to inform and support people to ensure that the impacts of trauma are managed using an early intervention approach.
